A10 Product Lifecycle Policy

Last updated: October 1, 2024

The purpose of this Product Lifecycle policy is to provide clear guidelines around the lifecycle milestones for A10 Hardware and Software Products.

A10 Hardware Product Lifecycle Policy

The A10 hardware product lifecycle support policy defines the stages of the hardware product lifecycle from General Availability through End of Life, along with the Operating System (ACOS) versions supported on A10 hardware platforms.

Hardware Product Lifecycle – Key Milestones & Definitions:

Abbreviation Milestone
FCS First Customer Shipment for the hardware product
EoS End of Sale
EoSS End of Software Support
EoL End of Life of hardware product

Figure: A10 Hardware Product Lifecycle

  • End of Software Support (EoSS): End of Sale (EoS) + 3 years
  • End of Life (EoL): End of Sale (EoS) + 5 years
  • Last date to extend a maintenance contract = End of Life (EoL) – 1 year
  • Last date to purchase a maintenance contract = EoS date
  • HW Platform will support current architectural release + 1 future architectural or major release, if available within the lifecycle of the platform.
  • After the End of Software Support (EoSS), Platform should be operated on the final version of ACOS supported on the platform to qualify for support.

  • End of Software Support (EoSS) is set for 3 years after End of Sale (EoS) date.
  • The platform reaches End of Life (EoL) 2 years after End of Software Support (EoSS) or 5 years after End of Sale date.
  • The hardware platform will support the current architectural release + 1 future architectural or major release, available within the EoSS date of the platform There may be exceptions necessitated due to hardware limitations or unforeseen circumstances. Please refer to “A10 Hardware Platform Lifecycle Matrix” for the exact milestones dates and ACOS versions supported on the hardware platform.
  • Any and all hardware platforms sold after July 1, 2016 are covered under this policy in accordance with the terms stated in this Policy. Please see the “A10 Hardware Platform Lifecycle Matrix” for information regarding individual product offerings.

A10 reserves the right to change its Product Lifecycle Support Policy at its sole discretion, without notice.

Upgrade Advisory: A10 highly recommends remaining current on all hardware at all times. Customers are urged to ensure that they have upgraded all A10 products to the Next Generation Hardware before any relevant End of Software Support milestone. Please contact your A10 Sales representative or A10 reseller to initiate the upgrade discussions on a regular basis, and certainly well before approaching End of Software Support.

Time period between End of Sale (EoS) and End of Software Support (EoSS):

A10 offers a variety of support services pertaining to hardware, software and technical support as per the service level descriptions set forth in A10’s customer’s support agreement.

Time period between End of Software Support (EoSS) to End of Life (EoL):

After EoSS, only hardware platforms with the Operating System version specified in the A10 Hardware Platform Lifecycle Matrix table below are eligible for support. Once the hardware platform reaches its EoSS date, it will no longer be included in the software development or testing cycles for any future ACOS release versions and A10 will NOT offer the following services for the specific hardware platform.

  • A10 will not provide any software fixes for the hardware platform. As such, A10 will not provide patches for Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE), security updates, software fixes (hotfixes), etc. after EoSS.
  • A10 will not supply a detailed and comprehensive root cause Analysis Report
Illustration – A10 Hardware Lifecycle Policy:

For Example: A hardware platform THXXXX reaching End of Sale in Q3 2028 will reach End of Software Support 3 Years from End of Sale date, which is Q3 2031. Starting Q4 2031, if the customer is still operating on ACOS 6.X train, they should upgrade to the required version of ACOS 7.0.X version to qualify for support. Starting Q4 2031, the platform will not be tested on ACOS 8.x or any future version of ACOS 7.x.

A10 Hardware Platform Lifecycle Matrix

The following table lists the Product lifecycle dates for all hardware platforms subject to this lifecycle policy. If the lifecycle dates are listed as “—“, EoS date has not been announced and the product is in regular support phase. If you are looking for Product lifecycle dates for older hardware not listed in this matrix, please refer to this link: https://www.a10networks.com/support/end-of-sales/

The column – “End of Software Support” indicates the Platform will not receive any software patches after this timeline.

The column – “Minimum ACOS version” indicates the minimum version supported on this hardware.

The column – “Final ACOS version supported” indicates the ACOS version that the hardware platform must utilize to qualify for support post End of Software Support. Platform should be operated in this version post EoSS.

* For Japanese customers, please reference the End of Sales page on the the A10 Networks Japan site. For older hardware not referenced in this table, please refer to this link for End of Sale dates. For additional documentation, impacted product SKU variants, End-Of-Sale replacement products, and End-Sale milestone dates, please reference the Product Life Cycle page on the Support Portal.

Product Lifecycle Change Announcements: When A10 hardware or software reaches End of Sale, A10 communicates the key milestones for the specific product via an End of Life notification posted on A10’s Support Portal: https://support.a10networks.com/support/axseries/AX_Series_EOL_Policy

Exceptions:
  • FIPS hardware is not subject to this hardware lifecycle policy. FIPS hardware may have a longer lifecycle compared to standard lifecycle. You can refer to the above matrix for the product lifecycle milestones for FIPS hardware.
  • This policy is only applicable to A10 Hardware appliances and does not apply to accessories (Optics, Railkit, PSUs etc) that are purchased from A10.

A10 Software Product Lifecycle Policy

Software Product Lifecycle – Key Milestones & Definitions:

Abbreviation Milestone
GA General Availability of the software product
EoS End of Sale
EoL End of Life of software product

Figure: A10 Software Product Lifecycle

  • End of Life (EoL): End of Sale (EoS) + 3 years
  • Last date to purchase a maintenance contract = EoS date
  • Last date to extend a maintenance contract = EoL – 1 year
  • Perpetual software Products will support current architectural release + 1 future architectural release.
  • Subscription software products will support previous, current architectural release+ all future architectural releases as long as the subscription is active.

In general, all software products are subject to the above software product policy. However, this new software lifecycle policy introduced as of October 2024 does not apply to customers who are already in an active support period, for purposes of that term. For those customers in active support periods, A10 will continue to honor the current contract terms and conditions.

Illustration – A10 Software Product lifecycle policy for a perpetual (non-term) software licenses:

For Example: The software SKU illustrated in this example reaches End of Sale in mid 2029 and End of Life, 3 years from End of Sale date which is mid 2032. Since this is a perpetual software product, it will be supported on the current architecture release and 1 future architecture release available within the lifecycle of the product, Assuming 6.x is the current release train when this SKU gets introduced, it will be supported on ACOS 6.x and ACOS 7.x release train.

Note: Perpetual software product SKUs with release restrictions will indicate the supported ACOS release versions in the SKU name, as illustrated in this example.

Illustration – A10 Software Product lifecycle policy for a subscription product:

For Example: The subscription (e.g., term) software product SKU illustrated in this example has no ACOS release restrictions. As such support will be available for it during all ACOS release cycle available within the lifetime of the product. In terms of the product lifecycle, subscription products End of Life occurs at 3 years from End of Sale. In this example, as End of Sale occurs mid 2025, End of Life would be 3 years from End of Sale date which is mid 2038.
